This is a restoration of Pop Go The Beatles episode 9. As previously, Hobnail has gone back to the Yellow Dog box and tried to bring the show back as close as possible to how it might have originally sounded. This chiefly involves adjusting eq, ironing out the frequent changes in amplitude and removing the background hiss and hum. Some other changes made were:
- Long Tall Sally. This is taken from the Apple cd, with the missing notes in John's guitar solo patched in from the YD version.
- Please Please Me. Some bad tape saturation has crushed all the dynamics out of this recording, so I've attempted to restore some of them using
an expander plug in.
- I Got A Woman. Taken from the Apple cd.

- I'm Gonna Sit Right Down: taken from the Apple cd, with spoken intro/outro from the Yellow Dog set.
- Crying Waiting Hoping: from the recent (2009) BBC Radio 2 special 'The Beatles At The Beeb'
- Kansas City: from the Apple cd, with the first few notes from the YD set.
_ To Know Her Is To Love Her: from the recent BBC Radio 2 special, with outro from the YD set.
- The Honeymoon Song: from the recent BBC Radio 2 special
- intro/Twist And Shout/outro: from the YD set. This needed the most work, with lots of amplitude and eq shifts to repair.

All of these tracks were taken from the Yellow Dog set, although Money and Till There Was You originate from one of the very first Beatles bootlegs, 'Studio Sessions I and II' and unfortunately reflect the quality standards of that era.
Most of the work involved ironing out sudden level changes, which were especially bad in Roll Over Beethoven. Some hiss reduction and EQ was also added.

This is a restoration of Pop Go The Beatles episode 7. Fortunately most of this episode exists in excellent quality, so not too much work was needed. Most of the work was on two songs.
- Memphis Tennesse: from the Apple cd, with intro/outro from the YD box set.
- chat/Do You Want To Know A Secret? : from the Yellow Dog set, with a little eq.
- chat/Till There Was You: a very problematic track. The off-air recording on the YD set is full of abrupt level shifts. There is a nice recording on the vinyl lp 'Broadcasts', but since that version is plastered with extra reverb the only option was to go back to the YD version and manually fix all the level shifts. However, with a little eq and hiss reduction this track now sounds quite good.
- chat/Matchbox: from the Apple cd, with a long dropout in the last verse repaired.
- chat/Please Mr Postman: the Yellow Dog version of this track is also plagued by severe level shifts. However, a good quality but incomplete version was aired in the 1982 'Beatles At The Beeb' special, so I have been able to edit the two together. This is a better job than the one I previously uploaded.
- Hippy Hippy Shake: from the Apple cd, with intro/outro from the Yellow Dog set.

The programme was launched in 1958 by producer Jimmy Grant and its range of music included skiffle, trad jazz, pop and country music.

The show was so popular that at its height, during the period the Beatles were recording for the programme, it had a Saturday morning audience of between two and three million listeners and was broadcast each Saturday from 10.00am – 12 noon. Its co-producer was Bernie Andrews.

The Beatles made their ‘Saturday Club’ debut on 26 January 1962. Today's podcast is from the 25th of May 1963.
